Don't you just love those cute little bunnies? I don't have access to my EHD, so I don't have any Easter photos to scrap with tonight. But take a look at this little guy in my layout:

This is my little great-nephew. Right now, he is fighting for his life on a ventilator in Children's Hospital. His mommy found him blue and unresponsive after his nap last Wednesday. He seems to be recovering slowly, but the doctors are puzzled as to why this happened. To add to my niece's difficulties, she just had a difficult labor that ended in a c-section 2 weeks ago, when she gave birth to her 4th child. So mommy is exhausted and careworn. Pray for Kyron and April.

Well, I'm back after an extended time off thanks to ill health. I hope I'm back on the road to recovery, but I still have a ways to go. So I am easing back into my CT duties.

Big News!

Well, it's been a rough few weeks for me as I've had to say goodbye forever to three of my colleagues. Char and Paul both had fought the hard fight against cancer and lost. Their deaths were not unexpected, but certainly still very sad. But losing Gary still has me reeling. I still tear up when I think of what happened. I worked with him last weekend. Sunday night he had a stroke at the office (thank goodness other nurses were there). He was only 60 and he lived life to the fullest, doing what he loved, clear up to the end. RIP my friend.

So that explains my dry spell. I'm having a tough time coming up with ideas for layouts. Please forgive me as I struggle through this.

However, MandaK aka Nibbles Skribbles has got some really big news. She is opening up a new store at a fairly new forum. She will be selling her stuff at Digital Scrap Ink. MandaK of Nibbles Skribbles has decided to give her CT members a title. We called The Skribblers. Isn't that cute? I love it! She has a new kit in the store today.

Merry Christmoose is obviously a traditional Christmas kit, but with some whimsical, comical elements involved. I didn't use them in my layouts (yet), but I just love the little moose characters. So cute! Here is a layout I made with this kit:

Wow, whoda thunk it?

I wanted to share with you some layouts I made using the latest templates by Nibbles Skribbles. I love working with templates. They are very useful in placement of the photos, papers and elements, but they can be altered to suit your needs.

Here is a layout I made today with Manda's Template Set #6:

That's my ugly mug. LOL! The kit I used is Summer Love by Just So Scrappy.

All of the paper placements, photo placement and the placement of the flowers was on the template.

Yesterday was the (inter)National Digital Scrapbooking Day and the gang at Stuff to Scrap really had a good time with it. There was something going on nearly every hour! I can't believe I "wasted" a wonderfully sunny and warm day and spent it indoors scrapping. LOL.

Here are some of the layouts I created for the challenges. I will not, however, be sharing the rather unflattering layout I made for the dare I asked for in the Truth or Dare game held in the chat room last night. LOL. I'll share with you some of the speed scrap/Challenge a Day layouts I've done this week too.

For the November 4th Challenge a Day I made this layout of my son when he was in his "punk" phase. The challenge on this day was to use photomasks. I used a free photomask by Bouille. The kit I used was the Wicked collab between Scrappy Kat, SealScraps and FunkyTime Designs:

For the November 5th Challenge a Day, we were to make a layout with a recipe. So I made a recipe card using the kit Golden Sunshine by Summer Driggs:

For the November 5 Speed Scrap I made this layout using a combination of things created by Linda Walton of Bon Scrapatit, mostly from the kit Fresh as a Daisy.

For the first speed scrap yesterday, I made this layout using the free kit we were given for the speed scrap by Scrappy Kat called Falling for Fall Add On (the participation prize was the whole kit):

The second speed scrap I made this layout using a yet to be released kit by Nibbles Skribbles called On the Ice. Stay tuned for this one later as I've got more layouts made with this kit:

November at STS

November is a very good month, in my opinion. Not only is it the month that contains my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving, but it is the month I gave birth to my 2nd daughter 23 years ago. It is also National Home Care and Hospice month and as a home health nurse, I am getting lots of goodies in my office for this month.

And it is also National DigiScrap Month and the designers at Stuff to Scrap have got a whole lot of fun planned for this month. I will try to keep up with all of the fun and post about them for my loyal followers (do I have any followers? Hahaha).

I was saddened when I received an email from Jamie of Every EverAfter Moment Designs, that she had decided to close her store at Stuff to Scrap. But I totally understand why she made the decision. She has a young son at home and she wants to spend as much time as she can with him. And I know that time flies by fast. Click here for her blog post explaining her decision.

So while I support her decision in every way, I'm sad because that means she doesn't need a CT any longer. It's time for spooks and goblins to wander the streets looking for tricks or treats. And I've got the perfect kit to scrap all those photos of your own little spooks and goblins on Halloween.

The Scrappy Kat has a new freebie kit on her blog called Owl O'Ween. Isn't that a cute title? It is a collab she's done with another STS designer, Scrapping Rainbow Designs. I don't have the previews to SRD's portion of the kit, but here is what Katina has:

I'm afraid that I have paper-scrapped almost all of my kids' trick-or-treating days so I was pretty limited in what I could digi-scrap! But I did find this photo of a Halloween costume show my local JoAnne Fabrics had many years ago. I think this is from 1993! I always made my kids' Halloween costumes except for one year. My two youngest begged and begged me to buy them Power Rangers costumes from WalMart. I did, and those costumes lasted long enough to make it through trick-or-treat and then they fell apart. I still have all the costumes I made in a box in the attic, waiting for my future-grandchildren to play dress-up with.

Ahh, but I digress. Here is the layout I made, using portions of the kit from both designers;

Many of us have been touched by cancer, in some form, in one way or another. That is why several Stuff To Scrap designers decided to collaborate to design the kit Rainbow of Hope. All proceeds from the sale of this kit and it's coordinating Quick Page Set will be donated to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

Great effort was made not to exclude any forms of cancer in the making of this kit. The kit includes 60 papers, 76 elements and an alpha. There are awareness ribbons in each of the colors represented. The colors chosen for this kit represent the following forms of cancer.

Orange: leukemia
Yellow: Liver cancer, bladder cancer, osteosarcoma
Green: kidney cancer
Blue: colon cancer
Purple: pancreatic cancer, cancer in general
White bone cancer
Black: melanoma
Brown: colorectal cancer
Grey: brain cancer
Lime green: lymphoma
Teal: ovarian, cervical and uterine cancers
Burgundy: multiple myeloma
Periwinkle: stomach cancer
Pink: breast cancer
Light blue: prostate cancer
Pearl: lung cancer

Oh My Goodness!!!

I am such a bad CT member. That, plus the past week kind of imploded on me. Hubby has had a bump in his recovery that has him reeling a little bit (his incision became infected and now he has a wound vac on) and on Monday, I traveled to Indiana to pick my baby girl up from college to come home and recover from mono! *sigh*

Time off

I will be taking at least the next 2 weeks off from scrapping and blogging. Too much going on at home to be able to keep up with this.

If you are so inclined, please keep my husband in your prayers. He is to have a very serious back surgery on 9/18 (originally scheduled 9/11). It is anticipated to be a 6 hour surgery and now 3 surgeons will be involved. He will have a very long recovery, not expected to be able to return to work until early next year. And he works a desk job! My second daughter is scheduled to have minor oral surgery tomorrow, but she'll do just fine. It's just that she'll need some help this week and my poor hubby just can't do anything.

So, I'll be back to scrapping soon. You can't keep me away from it that long.

I'm back for now

I was gone for a few days last week. We dropped my youngest daughter off for her freshman orientation at college then travelled all the way down to Myrtle Beach for my nephew's wedding. My second daughter and son were both part of the wedding party. It was a fabulous wedding, but made for a whirlwind trip. And while we were travelling, my husband's neurosurgeon's office called him THREE times to reschedule his back surgery. It was originally set for this Friday, but after lots of finagaling and rescheduling due to the surgeon's schedule, it is now set to go for the following Friday, 9/16. That just happens to be my son's 20th birthday! LOL. Oh well, he is in a lot of pain and this needs to be done.

So all that to say, I'm back for now. I will be taking a little break from my CT duties after dh's surgery as I will not only be a home health nurse by profession, but also a personal home health nurse for my hubby.

This is a charity kit to raise money for a 3 year old in Utah who is battling a brain tumor. I cannot even imagine the ordeal that this family is going through as I have been blessed with a very healthy family.
