What a great day!

Yesterday was the (inter)National Digital Scrapbooking Day and the gang at Stuff to Scrap really had a good time with it. There was something going on nearly every hour! I can't believe I "wasted" a wonderfully sunny and warm day and spent it indoors scrapping. LOL.

Here are some of the layouts I created for the challenges. I will not, however, be sharing the rather unflattering layout I made for the dare I asked for in the Truth or Dare game held in the chat room last night. LOL. I'll share with you some of the speed scrap/Challenge a Day layouts I've done this week too.

For the November 4th Challenge a Day I made this layout of my son when he was in his "punk" phase. The challenge on this day was to use photomasks. I used a free photomask by Bouille. The kit I used was the Wicked collab between Scrappy Kat, SealScraps and FunkyTime Designs:


For the November 5th Challenge a Day, we were to make a layout with a recipe. So I made a recipe card using the kit Golden Sunshine by Summer Driggs:



For the November 5 Speed Scrap I made this layout using a combination of things created by Linda Walton of Bon Scrapatit, mostly from the kit Fresh as a Daisy.


For the first speed scrap yesterday, I made this layout using the free kit we were given for the speed scrap by Scrappy Kat called Falling for Fall Add On (the participation prize was the whole kit):


The second speed scrap I made this layout using a yet to be released kit by Nibbles Skribbles called On the Ice. Stay tuned for this one later as I've got more layouts made with this kit:


And one of the many games we played yesterday was BINGO. We made our own cards too. I used Nibbles Skribbles kit Picking Perfect Pumpkins:


Today promises to be another warm, sunny day and I have a boatload of outdoor chores to get to today after church, so no more digiscrapping for me today. Hope you'll hop over to Stuff to Scrap and join in the fun. It continues all month long!

Some Challenge Layouts

There are two digiscrap forums that I have become involved in lately. Both are fairly active and have a variety of fun challenges. I'm sure you are aware I am active in Stuff to Scrap, and that tends to be where I check things out first. The newest one is a very new forum called DigiScraps DriveIn. There are some challenges that are similar in each forum, but most are different.

I wanted to show a couple of challenge layouts, on I made for each forum. Both layouts were made using Linda Walton, of Bon Scrapatit Designs, newest kit, Showers of Flowers. Linda makes such delicious kits and this one inspired me! The first layout is the result of the speed scrap this past Monday evening.



This next layout was made using photos my daughter took of some kids she was babysitting for. This was for the Made in the Shade (template) challenge at DSDI.



You can hop over to Linda's blog and still grab this kit, if you want. In fact, right now she has a lovely little freebie cluster frame she made with this kit. But don't dilly-dally. She doesn't keep her freebies up forever.

And last, but not least, is a layout I made for the song lyric challenge at DSDI. I was sent this photo by my friend. It is of her newborn granddaughter being held by her father. I am learning how to extract photos in photoshop and decided to use my attempt in this layout. The kit is the latest freebie available from Vicki Parker of A Work in Progress.

Back from Vacation

Bet y'all didn't even know I was gone. I spent the week in beautiful Myrtle Beach and did nothing but sit on the beach and relax. But all good things must come to an end and I am now on the way home, staying the night in Wytheville VA. I have a pretty good internet connection here and jumped on in time to find some great deals at Stuff to Scrap.

My Guy

Well, I've certainly shared enough layouts featuring my girls. I do have a son as well. I love the Blogtrain Blog. Once a month designers who choose to participate are given the color pallette and theme for the mega kit and then they design. It is so neat to see how each designer puts their own unique touch to the items added to the kit. The June kit is called My Favorite Guy. I knew as soon as I saw this I wanted to use this senior photo of my son. I entered this layout in the Font-a-licious Challenge at Osten Wilkins forum

Back in the Day

When I was a child, my mother didn't want to fuss with my hair. I can see why. I had thick hair and didn't want to sit still and let someone fuss with it. I had too much playing to get to! So, I had the ever-popular 1960s-era Pixie cut. At the DigiScraps Drive In Forum, one of the challenges was to find an old photo with the popular hairdo of your youth and scrap it. So here's what I decided to do with that photo. This is me in 1967. *snicker*

Speed Scraps and Challenges galore!

I thought I'd share with you some of my recent contributions to the challenges at Stuff to Scrap and Digi-Scraps Drive In. I have so much fun participating in these challenges because they give me incentive and ideas to get my scrapping done.

I've just started to become active at DigiScraps DriveIn. It's a very friendly place and has some wonderful designers as well. Can't wait to get ahold of some of their kits! The first challenge I took part in was the Alphabet Soup challenge. This will be an ongoing challenge, using a different letter each month. Of course, because this is the first month the letter is A! LOL. I submitted one of my favorite layouts that I shared here.

The Go for the Pinks challenge is what they call their color challenge. The challenge changed midstream, and I got my kit done early. The original color scheme was the colors of the new website. Red Dog Designs and Mad Genius Designs created minikits with those colors and I combined them to make this layout that I shared with you here.

The template challenge is called Made in the Shade Challenge (Don't you love the names?) I used the kit 2 Hearts by Stacey Towers and the provided template to make this layout:



I've done 2 speed scraps at STS. The first was a challenge to use multiple photos. I used the kit Mama's Love bySnow Moon Designs.



The next speed scrap challenged me to crop my photos into circles. I'm not so sure I like this layout. I used a hodge-podge of elements and papers. The stitched hearts from Vicki Parker's kit Amelia, the red flower and greenery from Linda Walton's kit Love Lifted Me, all else from Every Everafter Moment Designs kit This Moment. Font is Comic Sans.



The color challenge at STS was to use brown, pink and green. I combined a couple of older kits by DDBN called Jadestone and Chocolate Cherry Blossoms.

The Use-it-or-Lose-it challenge is fun to do. A freebie mini-kit is provided by one of the STS designers and we are challenged to use every bit of that kit in a layout. Here is what I did with the mini-kit made by Mad Genius Designs. You might recognize the word art!

A Pleasant Surprise

I was recently contacted by Jamie of Every Everafter Moment Designs to join her creative team! This was quite a pleasant surprise because I had thought her team was complete. But she asked me to join and I couldn't say no. Like Scrappy Kat, Jamie is a new designer at the Stuff to Scrap store. She was so very generous in sharing with me all of the kits that she has released to date, even though I just now joined her team. I couldn't resist scrapping this photo of my nephew's son using EEMD's kit Monster Cute.

Melinda Shining Star

Here is a page I made for a color challenge at a new forum I have decided to start participating in. DigiScraps Drive In looks to be a fun place to hang out, and so far, the people there are very friendly. A few of the designers there created some minikits for this color challenge and I combined 2 of them to create this layout. The designers kit's I used were Red Dog Digital Designs and Mad Genius Designs. This is my second daughter's picture from 5 years ago when she participated in the original Shining Star scholarship competition. I can't believe I hadn't scrapped that photo yet!

I created this at the last Speed Scrap at STS. The kit is Mama's Love by Snow Moon Designs.

School's Out Forever!

Here is my contribution to the Music lyrics challenge at the STS forum. Katrina is the moderator of this challenge and she chose the classic rock song School's Out for Summer by Alice Cooper. I can remember when this song was first popular and I loved it! Alice Cooper was so outrageous at that time, but pretty mild compared to what some rock groups are now. I guess I'm dating myself with that comment. LOL!

This kit is The Old Swing by Flower Scraps (see the blinkie in my sidebar). I couldn't resist scrapping this photo of my daughter and her best friend clowning around following graduation. It is just so typical of these goofy girls.

We celebrated my youngest daughter's graduation from high school last weekend. I am not sure if I really like this layout. I took my cue from the background paper and attempted to make a layout that looked like the photos were just scattered over the scattered paper. Kit is Red and Black Grad kit by Creations by Rachael.

On the Go

The designers at Stuff to Scrap have collaborated on a kit called On the Go. The colors are perfect for all those outdoors, little boy pictures. I can think of ways to use this kit for girls too (since I have 3 girls to scrap photos for!)

Oh baby, this kit is huge!! It includes 91 papers



204 embellishments, including a full alpha, 3 BB templates and 4 clusters (all of which couldn't fit onto the preview)

Cherished

I'm excited about this layout. I figured out how to recolor just a portion of the picture. The scarf and bottom of her shirt were originally a dark red color. I chose the dark green color in one of the papers and changed the color. Woot!

That's Groovy Baby

This kit takes me back to my childhood in the 60's and 70's when the world really was groovy, LOL. I can't help but think of the Partridge Family while I'm playing around with this kit.

I got a chance to play around with Scrappy Kat's kit, Twinkle Twinkle My Little Star. I used a different sort of theme for this kit. I think she made this with a bedtime/naptime with kids idea. Well, I decided to go with the star theme and highlight My Shining Star:

So excited!

I decided to step out on a limb and apply to be a Creative Team member for some digital designers. I really didn't expect anything, but thought, what the heck, why not try?

Imagine my surprise when Scrappy Kat accepted me!!!!! Kat is a designer for the Stuff to Scrap (STS) store. Kat is a fairly new designer who lives in "that state up north". (Anyone who is an Ohio State fan knows that means Michigan! But that's okay because two of my best friends are native Michiganders.) She is also competing in The Next Designs in Digital Design Star competition at Just Digi Layouts. She has made it through the competition to week 3.

Last Band Concert

In the next few weeks weeks, we will be attending the last of the last programs as our youngest daughter is graduation from high school. Tonight was the last band concert. I came right home and scrapped my photos.

Kristi's Mother's Day

My sweet niece Kristi has 3 adorable children. Her little girl is my namesake! She has recently separated from her husband and is staying with her parents until she can get back on her feet. She suffers greatly from Crohn's disease and is really not physically able to work. She is a beautiful girl and a wonderful mother. I couldn't resist scrapping this photo of her babies.

This page was made to celebrate my second daughter's graduation from college. She is the first of my children to finish college. I am so proud of her.
