Last Day for Sizzlin' Savings at STS

Well, the title of this post says it all! Don't miss this chance to grab anything at Stuff to Scrap Store for 30% off. I know the designers have worked hard to make sure there is a variety of kits to meet the needs of any sort of layout you want to make. I'm especially partial to The Scrappy Kat and Every Everafter Moment's Designs. *wink*

Click on the flyer to be taken to the STS store and have fun shopping!

More Rhinestone Cowgirl

The sale is still sizzlin' over at Stuff to Scrap. You can grab The Scrappy Kat's newest kit, Rhinestone Cowgirl, for 30% off. I am only "required" to make one layout for Katina, but I just loved this kit and wanted to make another one.

And that cluster frame is a freebie gift from me to you. Click here to download it if you want. I'd appreciate any feedback. Thanks

Get Rhinestone Cowgirl on sale!

Tomorrow is the start of the Sizzlin' Summer Sale over at Stuff to Scrap. It will continue through Sunday. I hope you'll be able to grab some lovely items for some terrific prices. I'm taking my laptop with me on vacation and hoping to be able to find some free wi-fi hotspots so I can do some shopping!

One of "my" designers, Katina has a new kit that will be in the store tomorrow. Don't let the name fool ya, this kit is quite versatile.

It can be used for girly-farm type layouts or any girly layouts, as you will see with what I created for it. Because of the warm browns in the kit, I suppose it is possible to scrap a more masculine photo. But I used it for some girly-princess type layouts.

Click the sale preview above to get to The Stuff to Scrap store. Click the previews for the kit to be taken directly to her new kit. Note there are 2 links, click each preview!

Instead of quickpages, I decided to offer a couple of cluster frames I used with elements from this kit. As you can see, these are quite girly! You can tell I have girly-girls in my house! Here is the preview. I still don't know how to bundle (or is it zip?) both of these into one file for download, so the individual links are below.

Click here for Cluster Frame 1.
Click here for Cluster Frame 2.

Come back tomorrow and I'll share with you the layouts I made with this kit.

Rhinestone Cowgirl

The Scrappy Kat has created another lovely layout. This is definitely a girly kit. Don't you love these colors?

Here is the first of the layouts I made with this kit. I had a lot of fun with it, especially with making those cluster frames. I hope you like them as well. And do you recognize that word art? yep, this is the layout I needed it for. I also entered this layout in the Word of the Week challenge at STS last week. So some of you have had a sneak preview of this already.

See what I mean about the girly factor with this kit?

And you can get this on sale at STS for 30% off this weekend when the Sizzlin Summer Sale is held. Can't beat that, can you? Click on the flyer to be taken to the store and look for Scrappy Kat's store to get this kit, which will be available 6/26/09.

Some layout/creating resources

Don't these paper shapes look like they would be fun to play with? I can picture all sorts of ways to use these in my layouts.

MandaK of NibbleSkribbles is selling these in her store at STS. For $3.99 you can get a collection of 5 12x12 paper shapes. 3 scalloped edges, 1 tattered page and 1 bracket complete this set. These paper templates are all approximately 12" and 300ppi. Simply add your color and your overlays to have fun new papers to add to your kits or to your layouts. These paper templates are CU friendly. Just click on the preview to be taken to her store. You may find some other things of interest too.

My Guy

Well, I've certainly shared enough layouts featuring my girls. I do have a son as well. I love the Blogtrain Blog. Once a month designers who choose to participate are given the color pallette and theme for the mega kit and then they design. It is so neat to see how each designer puts their own unique touch to the items added to the kit. The June kit is called My Favorite Guy. I knew as soon as I saw this I wanted to use this senior photo of my son. I entered this layout in the Font-a-licious Challenge at Osten Wilkins forum

I used items from this collab kit from the following designers:
creative.chaos
Creations by Rachael
Steel City Scraps
Designs by Sassy
HSH Designs
DebF
royanna
Designs by Ellie
roh
photomask by kyliem designs

Back in the Day

When I was a child, my mother didn't want to fuss with my hair. I can see why. I had thick hair and didn't want to sit still and let someone fuss with it. I had too much playing to get to! So, I had the ever-popular 1960s-era Pixie cut. At the DigiScraps Drive In Forum, one of the challenges was to find an old photo with the popular hairdo of your youth and scrap it. So here's what I decided to do with that photo. This is me in 1967. *snicker*

Woot!

Remember the speed scrap late last week that I knew I couldn't attend? I was disappointed because the participation prize was a cute mini-kit that one of "my" designers made (I guess I'm a little possessive, huh? LOL). Well Katina has decided to offer it in her store for only &1.99!

In case you don't remember it, here is the preview. Just click on it to be taken to her store. Well, what are you waiting for?

A Thing of Beauty

I couldn't find what I wanted to complete a certain layout. So I decided to make my own wordart. I thought you might like it too. Just click on the layout to download it.

Speed Scraps and Challenges galore!

I thought I'd share with you some of my recent contributions to the challenges at Stuff to Scrap and Digi-Scraps Drive In. I have so much fun participating in these challenges because they give me incentive and ideas to get my scrapping done.

I've just started to become active at DigiScraps DriveIn. It's a very friendly place and has some wonderful designers as well. Can't wait to get ahold of some of their kits! The first challenge I took part in was the Alphabet Soup challenge. This will be an ongoing challenge, using a different letter each month. Of course, because this is the first month the letter is A! LOL. I submitted one of my favorite layouts that I shared here.

The Go for the Pinks challenge is what they call their color challenge. The challenge changed midstream, and I got my kit done early. The original color scheme was the colors of the new website. Red Dog Designs and Mad Genius Designs created minikits with those colors and I combined them to make this layout that I shared with you here.

The template challenge is called Made in the Shade Challenge (Don't you love the names?) I used the kit 2 Hearts by Stacey Towers and the provided template to make this layout:

I've done 2 speed scraps at STS. The first was a challenge to use multiple photos. I used the kit Mama's Love bySnow Moon Designs.

The next speed scrap challenged me to crop my photos into circles. I'm not so sure I like this layout. I used a hodge-podge of elements and papers. The stitched hearts from Vicki Parker's kit Amelia, the red flower and greenery from Linda Walton's kit Love Lifted Me, all else from Every Everafter Moment Designs kit This Moment. Font is Comic Sans.

The color challenge at STS was to use brown, pink and green. I combined a couple of older kits by DDBN called Jadestone and Chocolate Cherry Blossoms.

I already shared with you my contribution for the song lyric challenge at STS here.

The Use-it-or-Lose-it challenge is fun to do. A freebie mini-kit is provided by one of the STS designers and we are challenged to use every bit of that kit in a layout. Here is what I did with the mini-kit made by Mad Genius Designs. You might recognize the word art!

Come back tomorrow. I have a freebie word art for you. I think you'll like it. I used it on my newest layout featuring The Scrappy Kat's newest kit: Rhinestone Cowgirl. I can't show you the layout just yet, but I think you'll like it.

The Great Outdoors Bragbook Pages

I created a couple of bragbook pages to share with you using Scrappy Kat's newest kit. I hope you like them. I'm afraid I haven't yet figured out how to zip up a file so you can download these all at one. So you'll have to click on each preview to download. I'd appreciate some love.

Another Speed Scrap tonight

I don't think I'll be able to make it, but hopefully you can! The details are on the flyer.

Katina is hosting this speed scrap. Check out the participation prize she has created. Isn't it lovely?

I Scream, You Scream

Have you been to Jamie's blog yet to snag her part of the freebie collab I Scream You Scream? It is a fun cheery kit full of all sorts of summery ice cream-y elements.

Here is a layout I created using this kit. This was taken nearly 19 years ago, but I can so clearly remember the kids looking out the window, waiting for the ice cream man to pass by. We rarely were able to afford to let the kids buy from the ice cream man, but they loved it when he passed by.

Today, you can pick up the papers. Click on the preview to be taken to her blog so you can grab this kit.

The Great Outdoors

I am so excited to share this kit by Scrappy Kat with you.

It is full of such fun colors and elements. It is perfect for scrapping those outdoors photos, but these great colors can be used for all sorts of masculine layouts. You'll want to hurry and check Katina's blog daily as she is offering portions of the kit each day for 24 hours only. Don't be dismayed if you do miss them, she'll have them in her store at Stuff to Scrap next week.

Here is a layout I created using this kit (The word art is by Bethany at Elegant Word Art):

Today. Katina is offering up part 1 of her paper pack. Click on the paper preview image below to be taken to her blog. But be quick, the link will expire tomorrow!

A Pleasant Surprise

I was recently contacted by Jamie of Every Everafter Moment Designs to join her creative team! This was quite a pleasant surprise because I had thought her team was complete. But she asked me to join and I couldn't say no. Like Scrappy Kat, Jamie is a new designer at the Stuff to Scrap store. She was so very generous in sharing with me all of the kits that she has released to date, even though I just now joined her team. I couldn't resist scrapping this photo of my nephew's son using EEMD's kit Monster Cute.

Here is the preview of this fun kit and it is linked to Jamie's store at Stuff to Scrap:

Come back tomorrow when I'll be sharing about TWO freebie kits available this week. I think you'll like what you see.

Melinda Shining Star

Here is a page I made for a color challenge at a new forum I have decided to start participating in. DigiScraps Drive In looks to be a fun place to hang out, and so far, the people there are very friendly. A few of the designers there created some minikits for this color challenge and I combined 2 of them to create this layout. The designers kit's I used were Red Dog Digital Designs and Mad Genius Designs. This is my second daughter's picture from 5 years ago when she participated in the original Shining Star scholarship competition. I can't believe I hadn't scrapped that photo yet!

2007 Prom

I created this at the last Speed Scrap at STS. The kit is Mama's Love by Snow Moon Designs.

School's Out Forever!

Here is my contribution to the Music lyrics challenge at the STS forum. Katrina is the moderator of this challenge and she chose the classic rock song School's Out for Summer by Alice Cooper. I can remember when this song was first popular and I loved it! Alice Cooper was so outrageous at that time, but pretty mild compared to what some rock groups are now. I guess I'm dating myself with that comment. LOL!

This kit is The Old Swing by Flower Scraps (see the blinkie in my sidebar). I couldn't resist scrapping this photo of my daughter and her best friend clowning around following graduation. It is just so typical of these goofy girls.

Forever Romance

Take a look at what Scraps of Ellay is offering in her STS store!

Don't you just love those muted blues, pinks and soft browns? The shades of blue and pink she has in this kit are so very similar to my wedding colors from 27 years ago, so you know I am partial to this kit. I think this kit would be perfect for scrapping those feminine and/or formal pictures you may have laying around. I'm partial to the frame that looks like a mother-of-pearl mosaic and the string of pearls embellishment. So pretty!

Click on the preview above to be taken to Scraps of Ellay's store at STS.

We celebrated my youngest daughter's graduation from high school last weekend. I am not sure if I really like this layout. I took my cue from the background paper and attempted to make a layout that looked like the photos were just scattered over the scattered paper. Kit is Red and Black Grad kit by Creations by Rachael.

Freebie Word Art

Earlier I learned how to make a quickpage. Now I've learned how to make word art. I decided to offer it as a freebie for anyone who is interested. I'd love any feedback and/or constructive criticism you may have. Click on the preview to download.

Fonts used are Arial Narrow and Amienne.
